Rail Safety

Transdev Auckland works closely with TrackSAFE and KiwiRail to promote rail safety in the Auckland region. TrackSAFE is a charitable trust dedicated to rail safety awareness and education in New Zealand and Martin Kearney, Managing Director of Transdev Auckland has been a member of the board since August 2015.

Transdev Auckland supports TrackSAFE in its annual Rail Safety Week campaigns. This year, Rail Safety Week runs from 15-21 August 2016. The 'Expect Trains' theme aimed to address driver and pedestrian complacency and distraction.

Transdev Auckland joins KiwiRail, NZ Police, Auckland Transport and Tracksafe and pupils from local west Auckland schools to talk with their peers and other passengers to reinforce the message that trains can approach the level crossing from both directions and to always wait for the alarm bells to stop and stay alert before crossing.

Transdev Auckland will continue to lead a series of community awareness events with key rail safety partners on the Western line at Fruitvale (15 Aug) Baldwin Avenue (16 Aug) and Sturges  Road (18 August) stations from 3pm - 4.30pm.
